Black Lake (Crno jezero)

Black Lake, locally known as Crno jezero, is a stunning glacial lake located in the Durmitor National Park in Montenegro. Nestled amidst dense pine forests and encircled by towering mountains, it is one of the country's most picturesque natural attractions. The lake is divided into two smaller lakes, the Big Lake and the Little Lake, which are connected by a narrow strait. Depending on the season and water level, the strait sometimes dries up, making them appear as two separate bodies of water.

Black Lake is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering activities such as hiking, kayaking, and swimming. The scenic 3.5 km trail around the lake provides breathtaking views and is a favorite among hikers and nature lovers. In the winter, the area transforms into a snowy wonderland, attracting visitors for ice skating and cross-country skiing.

The lake's clear waters and the surrounding pristine environment make it a perfect spot for relaxation and nature appreciation. It is not only a symbol of Montenegro's natural beauty but also a vital part of the Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Orjen

Orjen is the highest mountain range in the coastal Dinaric Alps, located in Montenegro. It reaches a peak elevation of 1,895 meters at Mount Zubački kabao. Known for its rugged karst landscape, Orjen offers stunning vistas of the Adriatic Sea and surrounding regions.

The area is popular for hiking and mountaineering, featuring diverse flora and fauna, with remnants of Austro-Hungarian fortifications scattered along hiking routes. Orjen's unique natural beauty and challenging terrain make it a favorite destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Orjen is also notable for its Mediterranean climate, which, combined with its altitude, creates a unique microclimate where both coastal and alpine environments coexist.  During winter, precipitations come in a form of snow, which can be few metres high. In shaded areas and on the altitudes above 1600 m, snow cover is there to the first days of May, and sometimes even to the beginning of June.
